I’ve been thrilled with the positive response to the Blue Ridge from Home Conference.
I wish this blogpost could be full of all the things I’ve done in the past week to prepare…sadly, I’ve got nothing.
The pedicure? Didn’t happen.
The new outfit? Fat chance.
But, I’m not giving up. Nasty stomach viruses and mountains of laundry notwithstanding, I’m determined to proceed. One advantage to feeling too crummy to do anything except lay around means that I have more time than usual to hang out with my laptop.
So, for all you Home Conference attendees…remember that Monday is go for a drive day…grab that mocha, tea, or milkshake…the point is to take a few mintues to enjoy something that makes you smile. If you have a Starbucks nearby, you can get a half price frappuccino from 3pm-5pm…so you have no excuse!
There’s no moping allowed this week. We aren’t at Blue Ridge, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t exactly where God wants us.
So celebrate that fact!
Leave me a comment and let me know where your drive took you!
This is neat! I just found out about this conference a few months ago, and I knew I wouldn't be able to go. I wouldn't go even if I could go, because I'm not quite ready yet. But I will be stalking this year in order to prepare for next year! π I'll be following your blog for updates on the "Blue Ridge from Home" version! What a great idea! Hope you feel better!
I'll be driving across town to a free writer's workshop tonight. The topic: organization. I promise I won't include any mopping in my schedule.
This is a neat idea Lynn! Took my 4 mile Power Walk this morning to begin a POWER DAY! I took off past week-end to spend with family and friends, so now I am ready to write, book speaking events, do weekly blog, and work on setting up a Training Facility in my home, and work on new website! Already completed 2 projects this AM, now for rest of a great day!
Have fun, everyone!
Looks like the only roadtrip I'll take today is shuttling the kids to piano and trumpet lessons. I'm hoping to snag some writing time during said lessons. Maybe we'll have a surprise drive-thru dessert afterwards and I can pretend I'm at Starbucks. π
Okay. No moping, if I must. π But I think I'll need to swap driving day for Wednesday. Fuel is $3.85 a gallon. Gotta consolidate my driving when I can.
"We aren't at Blue Ridge, but that doesn't mean we aren't exactly where God wants us." Excellent line, Lynn! As much as I want to be at Ridgecrest, I can't argue with you there.
Looking forward to the week.
I've never been either, but will be there next year, God willing. I'm going to try to come up with something to start blogging. I have my page set up, I just don't know what to talk about. :)I'd rather just write about people in my imagination. But … I'm going to try. Thanks for the tip about Starbucks too. If any of you like Duncan donuts, they have lattes for .99 from 2-5 on weekdays!

My drive brought me home after a crazy day at work and grocery shopping. Unlike at Blue Ridge, I need to feed myself this week so I went armed with a list of healthy low glycemic options.
Baked cod with greek salad was this evening's entree
My husband gobbled two bags of microwave popcorn which he ate in front of the TV (we are watching Netflix DVD's of the second season of CASTLE). And then discreetly opted for the frozen yogurt for dessert which he stealthily escorted to his study so I wouldn't drool.
Yes, I am watching my food intake on doctor's orders….I have less achiness and more energy without all the carbs, but it is tough. Lost five pounds too π

The best thing about a "home" conference? Being completely in control of the schedule! My stomach is still on the sensitive side, so I decided to hold off on my mocha. I did take a quick drive for a little retail therapy (for baby stuff – with a gift card!). Had such a bizarre experience…it just might be book worthy! Thanks to all of you for doing this with me! It's so much more fun this way. See you tomorrow!
I'm not doing the conference from home–I'm actually here at Blue Ridge. I just wanted to stop by and let you know I'm praying for you all, because I'd be sad to be missing out too. As a first year attendee, I now see what I was missing out on. (I saved my writing income for a couple years to be able to attend.)
I've met so many wonderful people. I wish you were here so I could meet you too!
I wrote about my first day's experience on my blog, if you want to check it out. I hope you're feeling better soon.
Lynn, what a terrific idea!
My drive took me to Calloway's Nursery yesterday. My flowerbeds quickly took up much of what remained of the day.
I learned I could write in the evenings (since I spent the early part of the day outside.)
I practiced the "morning papers" approach this morning and came up with a few article ideas, all reflecting on the yard work experience.
Thanks for Day One, I'm working on Day Two!
