Hi Everyone!! I’ve missed you! I’ve been writing non-stop, but none of it has been for the blog. I entered a contest and to my utter shock, I made it into the final round. Last night at 9:30 p.m., I hit “send” and a full manuscript is now in an editor’s hands. I may be… [ read more ]

If you’d told me 12 years ago that I would be home If you’d told me 12 years ago that I would be homeschooling my boys through high school…I probably would have cried. It would have felt too big. Too much. Too long.

And yet…here we are. About to begin James’s senior year. When his guide came today I almost didn’t open it. I knew what was inside, and I thought maybe I’d wait a few more days.

But then I decided that was ridiculous. It’s here. Senior year. This, the arrival of his guide for the new school year, is just the first of many lasts.

And while I have definitely NOT done everything right, when it comes to this particular journey? Zero regrets.

Homeschooling was the best decision for our family. And now that I can see the finish line racing toward us - James is a senior and Drew is a sophomore - I have to say that part of me wishes we had a few more years. A little bit more time for a few more read alouds, a few more pajama days, a few more weeks that didn’t go as planned but that were exactly right.

But here we are. Down to just a few more … and I’m probably going to cry. Because it’s too big. Too much. Too soon.

This is the kind of lake day that begs for a book, This is the kind of lake day that begs for a book, a sweater, a cup of coffee, and no agenda.

Of course my overactive brain keeps trying to give me an agenda.

But I’m resisting.

Anyone else really suck at relaxing? It shouldn’t be this complicated! But it is.

And the trim on this sweater is boring me to death! Ugh. Emma had better love this sweater forever. Because I don’t know how much more of this I can take. Lol! It’s a good thing Emma is so small!!

There are no words for how proud I am of my sister There are no words for how proud I am of my sister, Dr. Jennifer Huggins.

Her dissertation defense was a case study in excellence, poise, and professionalism. Her knowledge of all aspects of her research field was obvious, but the thing I noticed most was how her nurse’s heart continues to beat for her patients. 💓 👩‍⚕️ The world is quite literally a better place because she’s in it and because she does what she does.

I love you, Dr. Huggins!!! Congratulations!!
